Piper’s knowledge is built on the content you provide. By adding web pages and manual snippets, you can ensure Piper provides accurate and helpful responses to website visitors.

Adding Website Content

Piper can crawl both public-facing and private web pages to extract relevant information; however, webpages cannot be password-protected.

1. Go to Settings → AI Studio → Content.
2. Click Add Content → Webpages.

3. Select Only this URL or This URL and its subpages, then enter the URL.
4. Choose a Recrawl Frequency
   
   • Manual-only (default setting)
   • Weekly
   • Monthly

5. Click Add and Enable. Once the crawl is complete, the status will update to In Use.

6. If you selected This URL and its subpages, click into the entry to deselect any irrelevant pages.

If you have issues crawling your website and its subpages, please ensure that our IP addresses and crawler are allowlisted.

Auto-Recrawling Website Content

Auto-Recrawl ensures Piper continuously updates its knowledge by automatically recrawling your webpages.

Check & Adjust Recrawl Frequency:

• View last modified date, next scheduled crawl, and recrawl frequency in the Content Library.

• Default: Manual-only (you must manually trigger recrawls).
• Options: Weekly or Monthly (automates updates).

Trigger an Immediate Crawl:

• Click into the entry to trigger Recrawl now.

• The next scheduled crawl is recalculated based on your selected frequency.

Managing Content Efficiently:

• Filter pages by enabled, disabled, or new for easy updates.
• Use the 'New Pages' filter to quickly identify recently added content.

Impact on Scorecard:

• Piper’s Scorecard updates dynamically with the latest content while retaining previous feedback for unchanged questions.
• Changes to global settings (e.g., company description or rules of engagement) reset the Scorecard.

Adding PDF Content

Piper can read and ingest content from PDFs that may not be accessible on your website but are still part of your sales strategy.

1. Go to Settings → AI Studio → Content.
2. Click Add Content → File.

3. Enter a unique Title and upload the file.

4. Enable for AI Use. 
5. Click Save.

PDFs are currently limited to 20MB. If you need to upload a PDF that is larger than 20MB, please contact your QSA.

Manually Adding Custom Snippets

Snippets allow you to manually add information to Piper’s knowledge base, such as FAQs, competitor insights, or internal talk-tracks.

1. Go to Settings → AI Studio → Content.
2. Click Add Content → Snippets.

3. Enter a unique Title and add the content.

4. Enable for AI Use. 
5. Click Save.

Best Practices for Content Management

• Ensure web pages are publicly accessible – Private or password-protected pages cannot be crawled.
• Use snippets for offline or sensitive information – Add FAQs, sales scripts, or competitor insights.
• Regularly update and recrawl content – Automate this with weekly or monthly settings for dynamic content.
• Deselect irrelevant subpages – After adding a domain, review and remove unnecessary pages.
